>be me
>have good parents growing up
>grades K through Srd
>mom packs a lunch for school and leaves me little notes on my napkins wishing me a good day with smiley faces and stuff
grade rolls around
>someone notices I have a note on my napkin, starts laughing and telling people I have a note "fwom my mommy!"
>get into a fight over it because in elementary school you can either be everyone's laughingstock little bitch or make them afraid to ever make fun of you
>end up in principal's office, my mom gets called
>finds out I got in trouble for fighting a kid over the nice note she puts in my lunches
>says she's sorry when I get home and says she'll stop giving me notes
>actually sad inside because those notes brightened my day, but play it off like it's not a big deal
>fast forward to age 18
>moving across the country to go to college where my older brother is in his year, want out of our and want to see something new
>my brother is driving with me, car is packed, we leave early in the morning to get on the road before the local rush
>mom and dad giving me their tearful goodbyes, telling us to stay safe, etc.
>mom hands me a little cooler and says she made us some snacks for our trip so we didn't have to stop in some shitty fast food restaurant
>thank her, she always thinks of little things for us
>about 4 hours into our drive, ready to have a snack
>open up the cooler
>there's a note inside
>says "No matter how far away you go, or how old you get you'll always be my little boy - love you, have a safe trip!" with a smiley face next to it
>trying really hard to hold in tears so my brother doesn't notice
>can't help it, start crying in earnest, sniffling and everything
>he looked over and saw the note
>never said a word, never mentioned it to me since
