Walt Disney Imagineer Kevin Rafferty used to hang out in the Disneyland cast member parking lot in the 1970s with his fellow dishwashers from the Plaza Inn restaurant and imagine the rides and attractions they build at the Anaheim theme park.
"We'd talk about our dreams and aspirations," said Rafferty, who is preparing to retire after a 42- year career at Imagineering. "We talked about the things we'd do someday at the park if we had a chance."
In 2012, Rafferty found himself standing in the same spot where he used to park his car surrounded by a themed land he helped design inside a theme park that had become home to many of the projects he shepherded during his storied Imagineering career.
"One of my biggest memories in my entire career was standing on opening day of Cars Land and looking down the street at the courthouse and remembering that that's where I used to park my car as a cast member when I was washing dishes and dreaming up stuff like this," Rafferty said during an online video interview. "It just all came full circle and hit me like a ton of bricks. I thought to myself, 'This whole thing was like a dream and now here's Cars Land becoming a
