So today is my 70th birthday. Some of you may wonder why someone my age is playing this silly game. Well, it does EXACTLY what senior citizens need. Several sources on the internet (you can Google as well as I can) say there are three things older people need to do: 1. Move. We may not go to gyms or run 10 miles, but the less we move, the less mobile we become. We also gain more weight and have a higher risk for diabetes, stroke, or heart attacks. I walked over 70 km last week playing this "silly" game. 2. Be social. This is not easy for me because I'm a hard core introvert. But I have several close friends I have made and now see on a daily basis, or at least a few times a week. I've made friends of every age group, too. So I'm WAY more social because of this game. 3. Focus on complex mental tasks. This game used to be simple, but you only have to read the comments of people trying to grasp the complexities of the bonus events to know that juggling PVP, XP, stardust, shinies, legendaries, best friends, raid parties, and Team GO Rocket battles require mental focus and multitasking at a pretty high level. I manage all this constantly and enjoy doing it. Pokemon Go is going to help me live longer and enjoy all that extra time I get. Have fun!!
