First calf of our fall season! It's a wonderful thing to behold when my heart's heavy with the loss of another cow to hunting dogs with a trespasser. She was pregnant also. I don't hide from the fact that we raise cattle for consumption, but dammit, while they're in my care, I owe them my very best to guard their health and well-being. I can't help but feel that I failed that other girl.
